Coffee Chats tells you when something needs you: a reply, a booking, a reminder before a chat, or drafts waiting for your review. Every notification appears in the bell in the app, and the ones you choose also arrive by email. You choose them in Settings, Notifications.

Where notifications arrive

  • The bell in the app shows every notification, whatever you choose for email.
  • Email sends the notifications you turn on, from Coffee Chats to the address on your account.
A few notifications appear only in the bell: someone joined your call or is waiting, a follow-up is due, an update on a batch of job applications, and research or a CoffeeGPT answer finishing while you were away. Coffee Chats does not send text messages or push notifications.

What you can turn on or off

Each row in Settings, Notifications is one kind of notification. The default applies until you change it.

Emails that always send

Booking, billing and account emails always send, and they have no switch: a booking someone made or changed, a failed payment, running out of credits, Gmail sending that has paused, and a connection that needs you to sign in again. They go out the moment they happen and are never grouped into a digest or held by quiet hours.

Group emails into a digest

Under email digest in Settings, Notifications, choose how the notification emails you can turn on or off arrive:
  • Instant: each email is sent right away.
  • Daily: one summary every day at 8:00 AM.
  • Weekly: one summary every Monday at 8:00 AM.
  • None: no notification emails. Booking and account emails still send.
Digest times use the time zone set for quiet hours, or your account’s time zone if quiet hours have none. Booking, billing and account emails and meeting reminders never wait for a digest.

Quiet hours

Turn on quiet hours in Settings, Notifications and set when they start and end. With the Instant digest, notification emails you can turn on or off that come up during quiet hours are held, then sent together when quiet hours end. With a Daily or Weekly digest they wait for the digest instead. Meeting reminders, and booking, billing and account emails, are never held.

Unsubscribe from an email

Every notification email has an unsubscribe link, and your mail app’s Unsubscribe button works too. The link opens a page where you tick a box to confirm, so a mail scanner that opens links cannot unsubscribe you by accident. Unsubscribing turns off that kind of email. The link in a digest email sets your digest to None instead, which stops every notification email you can turn on or off. You can turn either back on in Settings, Notifications.
